about

This was the last tune recorded for the album. The foundation track is that bass that floats to the surface and begins oscillating throughout the song. That was a little Korg handheld plastic keyboard thing and everything else was built upon that. The melody is something I woke up singing the night before we recorded, just hours before going into the studio at midnight.

lyrics

Chip Away
So...you’re mining for gold, you don’t know where
You keep panning far, and wide, and low
So...you’re eating your heart with spoon and knife
You don’t mean to fall in love...so don’t

All alone I slip away, slip away
But with you I chip away, chip away

You keep panning far, and wide, and low
So...you’re eating your heart with spoon and knife
You don’t mean to fall in love...so don’t

All alone I chip away, chip away
But with you I slip away, slip away

All alone I chip away

All alone I chip away, chip away
But with you I slip away, slip away
